Men’s Waxing and Massage, City Centre, Liverpool

Want to feel clean, fresh and modern? citywaxman offers premier male waxing and massage.

why wax?

Male waxing is a quick and simple way of removing unwanted hair from literally any part of the male body. With regular waxing the hair growth can become weaker and therefore will become longer lasting between treatments.

The benefits of male waxing outweigh the other methods such as hair removal creams and shaving, as it lasts longer and literally gets to the root of the issue, not just the surface. It can help some men who really detest their hairiness to feel more confident with the look and feel of their bodies.

the waxing room

The waxing room is located in a private studio in the Liverpool City Centre, 3 minutes walk from Liverpool Central train station. Paul, the male waxing therapist, has been fully trained by one of the best waxing therapists in London, at the Jack Dunn Waxing School. Only the best products are used, Perron Rigot, which is especially formulated for men’s waxing only. There are two different types used, strip and non strip, this all depends on the areas that are being waxed at the time, both are as effective as each other, but for larger areas strip tends to be the most popular.

During the treatment your modesty will be considered at every stage, to ensure a relaxed and comfortable experience. All you have to do is shower before coming in, and if possible best to wear some loose clothing to go home after.

your pre-wax advice

Before you decide on your 1st male waxing treatment, there are a few things to consider before you embark on your new smoother look.

  • It is essential that you declare any medical issues as stated on the consultation form, and follow the pre-care and after-care advice. If you do not, then you will likely suffer from for e.g. ingrowing hairs and a risk of infection to your opened follicles. so PLEASE read carefully.
  • Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common, and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your 1st ever waxing. These symptoms should subside within 24-48 hours.
  • When removing the wax during treatment, there could be ‘bloodspotting’, (little pin pricks of blood). This is normal and there is no need to be alarmed. If you are a haemophiliac or are on treatments that thin your blood, it is vitally essential you tell me, as you cannot have treatment.
  • Please read the list of medical contra-indications that may prevent you having any waxing treatments before you come for your treatment. It is vital that you are honest and disclose any of the conditions, and any others that you think may or may not be relevant, for your own health & safety.
  • Your details are kept private & confidential between client and therapist only.
  • Hair re-growth can differ between people, depending on your previous grooming methods – shaving, hair removal products etc. But usually you will be hair free for 4-6 weeks.
  • If you keep up your waxing frequently, your hair cycle will change and re growth will be slower and finer.

prewaxing advice

  • Don’t trim before your visit, if needed the hair can be trimmed by the therapist. It will make your experience more comfortable. If in any doubt though, it is better to leave longer than too short.
  • If you have been shaving prior to waxing, it is best to have at least 4 weeks re growth to allow your hair follicles to reproduce, and do not shave inbetween waxing once you start.
  • If you are going on holiday or a special occasion, I recommend that you have your treatment 2 or 3 days before, so your skin has time to settle down. You cannot go sunbathing whilst your skin is tender from a waxing treatment.
  • It is recommended to shower and exfoliate the chosen area 12-24 hours prior to waxing, which results in a smoother finish, and lessening the chance of in grown hairs.
  • Do not use moisturisers prior to your treatment, as the wax will not sit on your skin and grab the hairs correctly.
  • Wear loose clothing when you come for your treatment, it will be more comfortable for you after your treatment.
  • If you do have sensitive skin and a low pain threshold, you may find taking an anti histamine tablet and ibuprofen an hour or so before treatment may help, but please consult your GP or pharmacist to ensure you are allowed to take any medication you have not had before, as I am not a Dr and cannot advise you on this matter.

postwaxing advice

Your pores and follicles will be open, leaving them vulnerable to infection. So you must protect yourself by following the advice given to reduce reactions.

  • No hot showers, baths, sauna, steam, excessive heat
  • No sport, gym work or other sweat inducing exercise activities
  • No swimming or chlorinated pools
  • No use of sunbeds, or sun bathing until skin has calmed down
  • Do not apply perfumed products, as these will irritate your skin, e.g. deodorant, body sprays, aftershave, fake tans. Only use products gentle and nourishing to the skin.
  • Avoid touching freshly waxed skin, so no scratching or stroking, no matter how proud you are of your new look. Remember your pores are open to infection. This is why I wear gloves to protect you during treatment.
  • Soothe and protect the skin for 3 days after treatment with antiseptic cream, tea tree or lavender for example after shower or bath to all waxed areas.
  • To help prevent in grown hairs, after a few days from your treatment, when your skin has recovered, start to exfoliate GENTLY 3 times a week to remove dead skin.

And moisturise, as this also helps new hairs so they can get out above the surface of the pores and not become in grown.

Your hair cycle, regrowth and visits will be a lot easier and more productive if you follow the advice.

we massage too

We also offer the relaxing Swedish Massage therapy to our customers too.

The Swedish Massage is the best known and most commonly provided massage in the UK. This type of massage is extremely therapeutic and is performed by our trained therapists. Most people opt for a 60 minute massage, but the 90 minute version allows our therapists more time to work the tissue of the muscles to achieve a more desired result.

In all Swedish Massages, the therapist uses specialised oils to lubricate the skin and then perform a variety of massage strokes. These serve to raise the temperature of the muscle tissue and thereby release tension and points of adhered tension – often referred to as ‘knots’.
